Bare Fruit 100% Organic Bake-Dried Pineapple, 1-Pound Bags (Pack of 2) Review

Bare Fruit 100% Organic Bake-Dried Pineapple, 1-Pound Bags

I have purchased dried pineapple in bulk from Whole Foods for awhile now and absolutely love them. What I received from Bare Fruits is a real disappointment. The pineapple does not seem fresh and the fruit is all smooched together in the bag. I also ordered the dried apples and absolutely love them but the pineapple is a real disappointment. Would not recommend purchasing.

Tart Is Smart Tart Cherry Concentrate, 16-Ounce Bottle Review

Tart Is Smart Tart Cherry Concentrate, 16-Ounce Bottle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is supposed to be refrigerated, according to the maker. Not refrigerated after opening, but refrigerated. They claim to ship it to retailers in refrigerated trucks. This is a concern, because it's bottled in #1 plastic bottles, unlike most health juices, which use glass bottles. A concern to me in Arizona, where even in winter the UPS trucks heat up. I received mine late today, and it was quite warm--luckily it was under 100 outside, but on an 80 degree day the insidees of vehicles reach above 102 degrees. So it was somewhere under boiling.
Very bad packaging. They could at least use #2 plastic. The taste is fine but the anti-oxidant effect is bound to be either a wash or negatively affected by the heat. I will have to go back to purchasing another brane from a health food store where they keep it in a refrigerated case.
I have an email in to the maker and will post an update.

I didn't find any pits and that's saying something because whenever I buy cherries in the store, they always warn "may contain pits" and sure enough, I always find one. These were good without a lot of sweetener, and also didn't have the preservative flavor.

Try them added to salads or in a baked chicken dish with a little soy sauce and toasted sesame oil. Dried fruit is very different from fresh so don't expect it to taste the same, these are kind of like a natural gummi. Healthy snack. Thanks!

Mariani Cherries, 6-Ounce Units
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought these a couple of years ago and still have a couple packages in the freezer. It's time to discard these frozen ones like I did ALL the other packages I opened to taste a FEW cherries but could not make myself eat any more of them. What a waste!I don't find these to be delicious at all. They barely taste like cherries and are rather rubbery. One thing I have to give them credit about is that they are NOT loaded with sugar. That is why I bought them in the first place.I may be comparing these to fresh cherries though so it's really like comparing apples and oranges.....it's unfair on my part.I suggest you buy one package locally before buying a whole case like I did.You may like them....I did not!

Product Description:
A natural source of antioxidants! Great tasting, naturally fat-free snack! Here's a bit of trivia. What did our founding father, George Washington, say after he chopped down the cherry tree? He said, let's dry these gorgeous cherries and snack on them later. All right, he didn't really say that. But if he were alive today, he would most definitely be snacking on Mariani Dried Cherries. It's that hint of tanginess blended with the natural sweetness of the cherries that'll keep you coming back for more! Mariani Dried Cherries are such a versatile fruit. Not only are they great for snacking and baking, cherries are a natural source of melatonin, shown to be a more potent antioxidant than Vitamins C, E and A. Remember, diets low in fat and high in fruits and vegetables may reduce the risk of some cancers. For four generations, the Mariani brand of dried fruits has been delighting avid fruit eaters all over the world. Now, knowing the benefits of cherries, we're sure you'll agree that Mariani cherries are a delicious, healthy choice.

Mariani Berries 'N Cherries, 6-Ounce Units (Pack of 12) Review

Mariani Berries 'N Cherries, 6-Ounce Units
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Because of the unhealthy ingredients in this product I would have rated this a ZERO, but that wasn't an option.

I bought this product thinking it would be of the same caliber as Mariani cherries, which contains "dried cherries and sugar."I'm not a fan of white sugar, nor do I buy or use it in my home, but at least it's the only other ingredient.

After I received my delivery I read the ingredients for this product- "Mariani Berries 'N Cherries, 6-Ounce Units (Pack of 12)", as I have done with everthing food item have purchased over the past 25+ years, and I found the following quite disturbing!

In addition to the fruit there are the following ingredients:1)"Sugar" (who knows what kind. I can only assume it's refinded white sugar, but it's not as bad as the following 3), 2) "High Fructose Corn Syrup" (Nasty stuff this is!), 3) "Corn Syrup" (More nasty stuff and also useless), and 4) "Sucrose" (also known as "Splenda" with the Blueberries, and linked to health problems more than the previous 3 ingredients).ALL 4 of these are unhealthy and should be baned from all foods!I was looking for something natural and healthy. There's 'nothing' natural and healthy about white "Sugar", "High Fructose Corn Syrup", "Corn Syrup", and especially "Sucrose" (better know as "Splenda")

There is quite a bit of information available that proves these 4 ingredients are unhealthy.Search each one, or search "artificial sweeteners", and you will be surprised at the negative effects these have on the health and well being of both humans and animals, despite what the manufacturers claim.

If 'all' of the ingredients had been listed in the Amazon product derscription I would NEVER have bought this product!

I will NEVER by this product again, nor will I ever buy Mariani "Wild Blueberries" again! They contain the same 4 NASTY ingredients as the "Berries 'N Cherries" product does! And they taste awful!NOTHING like real wild blueberries!

Mariani:You should have left nature alone, not tampered with the taste of fresh fruit, and only added some sunflower oil or Vitamin E.

P.S.I wonder if "High Fructose Corn Syrup", "Corn Syrup", and "Sucrose" are Kosher?

This fruit is great for a quickie cobbler.Just pour a can in a 9"by9" pan. Add cobbler topping (mix together, cup sugar, cup flour, 2tps baking powder, and 1 egg.) Sprinkle over fruit. Pour melted butter over top, sprinkle a little cinnamon over top and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Try it, I've gotten lots of compliments on this and it's simple and fast.

While reading through one of those lists advising me of what I should be eating in order to get all of the vitamins, minerals, bioflavinoids, and existential approval necessary for perfect health, I found that I should be eating dried cherries. On a regular basis. As in daily. So I went off to the store in search of dried cherries. It turns out that not only are dried cherries really good for you. They are also really expensive.Or dry as sawdust with about as much taste.

Oskri produces and packages some wonderful dried cranberries and I wondered if they did the same for cherries. It turns out that Oskri's dried cherries are just as wonderful as the dried cranberries.Like the cranberries, these are the whole fruit and not bits and pieces. The cherries have been pitted and doused with a touch of apple juice for a bit of extra sweetener and then dried. The end result is a dried cherry that retains the perfect amount of moisture and a deep rich flavor.

I've been mixing my own "trail mix" (it should probably be called "office mix") using Brazil nut, pecans, almonds, hazelnuts, and these dried cherries.Fabulous, healthy with just enough existential approval.

This was a big hit with our company that came to visit this summer.I had 6 weeks of family and friends and wanted to have tasty, healthy snacks to offer adults and kids alike.

The Amazon reviews of this cherry are what tempted me to order.Along with the health benefits that the packaging mentions, these are really great cherries. They are large and moist but not wet. They look appealing to the eye. They are like no other dried cherry I've had. They are a little bit tart but still sweet. Very satisfying as a snack.

I've never bought other cherry products because it isn't my family's preference but these were a big hit with everyone who tried them.Even those who didn't like cherries enjoyed these.

I find them to be a nice change from the large raisins I normally buy. They make a great mix-in to hot oatmeal, trail mix, granola, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and scones.I set them out with nuts, fruit, and cheese for an appetizer before a family dinner.Everyone who has tried them has been pleasantly surprised.

I'll be ordering more.

Traverse Bay Dried Cherries, 8-Ounce Container (Pack of 4) Review

Traverse Bay Dried Cherries, 8-Ounce Container
Average Reviews:

My first experience with dried tart cherries was when I went to visit a friend from Traverse City, Michigan about ten years ago.As a teenager, she had worked in the cherry plant removing pits from the fruit, not uncommon for natives of the Cherry Capital. She took me down to Meijers to buy a box of dried tart cherries to carry home on the plane as a special treat.

Then a few years ago, I began buying cherries at Trader Joe's and they became a pantry staple for me. Once I realized my friend could get them on sale at Meijers and ship them to me for a significant savings and slight quality advantage over the ones I had been buying, I asked her to do that several times. It never occurred to me to look for them on Amazon where the cost is about the same as having them shipped from Traverse City and I won't have to bother my friend.

Normally I do not buy sweetened fruit of any kind but the slight amount of sugar is necessary due to the tartness of the cherries, much as lemonade or cranberry juice must be sweetened, and it is completely unnoticeable.A slight bit of oil is also required to keep them from turning into a solid mass of moist chewy goodness!

A few of these are great in smoothies, but not too many, as the flavor is very intense.I also enjoy them in oatmeal and cold cereals, with milk chocolate, and out-of-hand as a snack.Once, after carelessly mistaking them for raisins and adding them to scones, I got a very pleasant surprise! They are great in rice pudding, cr

These were a great buy at the time, so I decided to try them. They are great!I never tried them just as an out-of-the bag snack, rather I put them in cookies (oatmeal-dark chocolate chip-cherry were my favorite), in trail mix, and I found a wonderful recipe for Cherry-Zinfandel BBQ sauce in which they were fantastic. They would have gotten 5 stars except for the frequency of pits, which I thought was too high.

I purchase the multi-pack of small (individual serving) dried cherries, but those are no longer listed, but this is the same product from the same company in a different size.

1. I received my order /months/ after my Amazon order (there was an interim point at which Amazon emailed me to see if I wanted to cancel the order). Amazon did not show out-of-stock at the time of order, so buyer beware.

2. As other raters have mentioned, the taste is moderate, although the longer you chew them, the more you can taste a subtle cherry flavor. The flavor isn't as strong as I expected, but I like variety, so this point alone wouldn't have stopped me from buying

3. These have pits! I find at least 1-2 in every bag. In addition, I find another several cherries with "crunchy bits" which I suspect are remnants from pits that have chipped or broken during the de-pitting process. I've ended up eating these from the bag (very carefully), because they aren't safe enough to cook in muffins or breads (one of my original goals), because then you wouldn't be able to see when you are biting into one and the chance of dental damage would be even higher.

I have ordered other dried fruit from Bare Fruit, and enjoyed them very much (apples, mango, etc.) but I cannot recommend their cherries. I hope my review saves someone a chipped tooth.
