The cans were dented and the strawberries were strange. This is my first time eating non-fresh strawberries at home. They are the grey pink color of the strawberries in the basket that have turned bad in patches. The taste is not a rotted taste. It tastes different. Not toxic tasting but new and unencouraging.I placed three strawberries on each waffle and my family ignored them.Unlike the other berries, this not pleasant to eat straight so I will use them mashed in chiffon cake.I am not optimistic.

I made a chiffon cake with a can of strawberries and used the red liquid in the frosting. The result:flavorless.

This fruit is great for a quickie cobbler.Just pour a can in a 9"by9" pan. Add cobbler topping (mix together, cup sugar, cup flour, 2tps baking powder, and 1 egg.) Sprinkle over fruit. Pour melted butter over top, sprinkle a little cinnamon over top and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Try it, I've gotten lots of compliments on this and it's simple and fast.

and I used to.Growing up in western NY I picked tree ripened sour cherries, pitted and canned them, knowing no canned cherries on the market could compare to the home canned ones. After moving to southern California and finding that sour cherries won't grow here it took me several years to discover Oregon brand cherries, but in the 32 years since then I won't make a cherry pie with any other kind.Thank you, Amazon, for carrying them.So few people cook anymore, it seems, they're getting hard to find.

I haven't been at ease with eating grapes since high school when I learned about the plight of migrant farm workers in California. These grapes taste close enough to fresh ones to eat straight out of the can but my purpose for them is raisin substitute in baking. Four out of the 8 cans were dented.
