Roland Sliced Mango in Light Syrup, 15-Ounce Can (Pack of 12) Review

If you've ever peeled and cut whole mangos you'll appreciate this can of delicious prepared mangos. There has to be 2 or 3 whole mangos per can.If they would use the natural mango juice instead of light sugary syrup they would have a HIT on their hands.Still, even with the high sugar content, these canned mangos are terrific as a cake or ice cream topping or even just by themselves.I will be buying this product again when it's in stock and on sale again. If you like mangos and can tolerate some added sugar, I highly recommend this canned fruit.Roland does a nice job with their fruits but stay away from their vegetables.

Bought this thinking this would taste like real papaya chunks. I make papaya smoothies all the time and these were not good at all. It might be the syrup or something but it just didnt taste like papaya at all.

Gooseberries 1lb (Dried) Review

Gooseberries 1lb

Unsweetened gooseberries have a slightly sour flavor, although they can be eaten unsweetened.Sugar is usually added if they are made into pies, cobbler, or jam.We had our own gooseberry bush when I was a child, and I do remember eating the berries right off the bush.Like other berry products, they are high in anti-oxidents.There are various nutritional claims, still to be verified, including a claim that they will help burn off belly fat (a problem some of us have). So, we shall see.I have just started trying these.

To obtain a sweeter flavor, the dried berries can be dipped in honey or sugar syrup.

This fruit is great for a quickie cobbler.Just pour a can in a 9"by9" pan. Add cobbler topping (mix together, cup sugar, cup flour, 2tps baking powder, and 1 egg.) Sprinkle over fruit. Pour melted butter over top, sprinkle a little cinnamon over top and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Try it, I've gotten lots of compliments on this and it's simple and fast.

Native Forest Organic Papaya Chunks, 14-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6) Review

Native Forest Organic Papaya Chunks, 14-Ounce Cans

This is the first time I have had Papaya in a can. I usually opt for a fresh one, but being that I am in the midwest US, we are in the winter season right now and the travel time for a fresh papaya to get to the store here really impacts the taste. Not a good thing.

Since canned fruits are picked at the peek of their ripeness, I figured I would try these out and have to say I was not disappointed. I just wish they put more in the can. If you like Papaya though, I do no think you will be disappointed. Plus organic, thanks amazon.

One can sells for 3.39 at my local grocery store, so with this special, it's about 2.16/can for 2 8 packs. What a bargain w/ FS. The fruit is soooooo tasty. I usually buy frozen, but this canned is better, so I've converted. I confess I eventually ate a whole can during one evening as a healthy plain fruit dessert since I kept going back for "seconds" a few times. Truly the next best thing to fresh.

I have loved gooseberries ever since I had my first piece of gooseberry pie at a small family bakery in San Luis Obispo county. I've always preferred the more tart fruits in desserts, preserves, chutneys and such.

I find them a refreshing change from the sweeter desserts, etc. I was thrilled to find them available from Amazon and at such a good price.

Amazon ------- not just for books anymore!!!!!!!!!!!
