(More customer reviews)I was at first skeptical of other reviews stating their children liked these straight from the can as a snack...yeah, right.I stand corrected!! I originally purchased these (and the strawberries and the diced apples!) to be added to cereal and use for baking. Much to my surprise, they are SO GOOD, my children (ages 4 and 20mo) LOVE them as a snack!I would NEVER have thought this would fly with my kids as a snack...but they love them.My toddler especially.My older son loves the Strawberries and adds them to his cereal and oatmeal.I HIGHLY recommend this item.It seems a bit spendy, but you get a TON of fruit in the can for this price.I have had mine for about a month now, and we eat them EVERY day, and we still have over 1/2 the can left!
If you are considering purchasing, I HIGHLY recommend you do!You will not be disappointed!

A few years ago, I purchased orange flavored Craisins at the grocery store & absolutely loved the flavor. I'd buy a pack every other month or so & then they began to get harder to find. I even called Ocean Spray to find out if they were still making this flavor & the customer rep said she didn't know of any changes. I can always find Craisins and cherry flavored Craisins on the store shelf...but I don't particularly like either one of those.

I like to addwalnuts & orange flavored Craisins to my oatmeal.I use them in toss salads & broccoli salad, too.I have never baked anything with them, I love the flavor so much that just having a taste of the orange flavored Craisins satisfies me & I don't need to eat them in baked products.Great for me, cause it saves me all those unnecessary fat & calories in baked goods.

(More customer reviews)Unsweetened gooseberries have a slightly sour flavor, although they can be eaten unsweetened.Sugar is usually added if they are made into pies, cobbler, or jam.We had our own gooseberry bush when I was a child, and I do remember eating the berries right off the bush.Like other berry products, they are high in anti-oxidents.There are various nutritional claims, still to be verified, including a claim that they will help burn off belly fat (a problem some of us have).So, we shall see.I have just started trying these.

To obtain a sweeter flavor, the dried berries can be dipped in honey or sugar syrup.

(More customer reviews)The cans were dented and the strawberries were strange.This is my first time eating non-fresh strawberries at home.They are the grey pink color of the strawberries in the basket that have turned bad in patches.The taste is not a rotted taste.It tastes different.Not toxic tasting but new and unencouraging.I placed three strawberries on each waffle and my family ignored them.Unlike the other berries, this not pleasant to eat straight so I will use them mashed in chiffon cake.I am not optimistic.

I made a chiffon cake with a can of strawberries and used the red liquid in the frosting.The result:flavorless.

...but not without a great deal of sugar and high-fructose corn sweetener. Like the previous reviewer I bought these at Costco. Brought them back due to the sickly-sweet taste. There was so much added sugar it was getting a little difficult to taste the berries.

If you prefer berries au naturel or with just a little extra sweetness, watch the ingredient list on these. Sugar is the second ingredient by weight - and corn syrup is the fourth.

Black raspberries have prevented cancers in Stoner's lab rats. He is conducting human trials to determine whether black raspberries (and in what forms) will prevent human cancers. Early studies show that the berries slow tumor growth, and reduce cancer risk significantly.

Benefits:

The richest source of ellagic acid: an effective anti-tumor agent but only in the seeds and the pulp, not the juice.

The highest anti-oxidant activity of any other berry.

High in anthocyanins, anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatories that give the dark purple color.

Dr. Stoner's patients are given 2 ounces of freeze-dried black raspberries daily, the equivalent of about a pound of berries a day.

Whole fresh berries are hard to find and available only a few weeks a year, and subject to rot. Trader Joes sells frozen black raspberries in our area, but they are not always available. Strawberries and blackberries are a pretty good substitute, but blueberries, despite their heart benefits, don't help as an anti-cancer agent.

I usually buy frozen, but this canned is better, so I've converted. They are sweetened just enough, don't stick together in a lump, are just slightly juicy, have no preservatives AND taste great refrigerated! For those who are wondering, 4# just fits in a 1-gallon zip lock bag. On the box, it says a serving size is 1/3 cup and there are 45 servings. I will buy these again!
