(More customer reviews)Unsweetened gooseberries have a slightly sour flavor, although they can be eaten unsweetened.Sugar is usually added if they are made into pies, cobbler, or jam.We had our own gooseberry bush when I was a child, and I do remember eating the berries right off the bush.Like other berry products, they are high in anti-oxidents.There are various nutritional claims, still to be verified, including a claim that they will help burn off belly fat (a problem some of us have).So, we shall see.I have just started trying these.

To obtain a sweeter flavor, the dried berries can be dipped in honey or sugar syrup.

(More customer reviews)One can sells for 3.39 at my local grocery store, so with this special, it's about 2.16/can for 2 8 packs. What a bargain w/ FS. The fruit is soooooo tasty. I usually buy frozen, but this canned is better, so I've converted. I confess I eventually ate a whole can during one evening as a healthy plain fruit dessert since I kept going back for "seconds" a few times. Truly the next best thing to fresh.

(More customer reviews)I have loved gooseberries ever since I had my first piece of gooseberry pie at a small family bakery in San Luis Obispo county. I've always preferred the more tart fruits in desserts, preserves, chutneys and such.

I find them a refreshing change from the sweeter desserts, etc. I was thrilled to find them available from Amazon and at such a good price.
