6-Jar Variety Pack: Favorite Preserves Review

6-Jar Variety Pack: Favorite Preserves

They taste great.
They're pretty!
They're made in an intriguing and enviro-friendly way. (My first sight of the monastery where they're made - a replica of the mother-house in Europe, on a picturesque hilltop in Massachusetts - swept me into a historical reverie that was interrupted when I realized what the habited monk on the red tile roof was doing: fixing one of the solar panels powering the jelly factory. You can read more about some unique features of the process on the Amazon site.)
And the money you spend actually goes to support the life and work of the monks.

Product Description:
TRAPPIST PRESERVES. . . WORLD-FAMOUS QUALITY. . .The monks at St. Josephs Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts craft each batch of Trappist Preserves in accord with the monastic tradition of excellence. The result is unsurpassed quality which has earned worldwide awards and praise. One factor which contributes to top quality is vacuum pan cooking. The fruit is cooked at temperatures of about 80 degrees cooler, resulting in better color and flavor. No artificial colorings, flavors, or preservatives are used! Another key factor to quality is the same cook who has been refining recipes and techniques for more than 30 years, bringing a wealth of experience to today's production. Careful selection and combination of fruit also contribute to making a superior product. In their Strawberry Preserves, for example, two kinds of strawberries are used: one for outstanding flavor and the other for texture which holds up throughout the cooking process. These and other factors make Trappist Preserves some of the best in the world. . . Now, by the convenience of mail order, the monks bring their hospitality to your doorstep!

Celestial Seasonings Herb Tea, Black Cherry Berry, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) Review

Celestial Seasonings Herb Tea, Black Cherry Berry, 20-Count Tea Bags
Average Reviews:

This tea provides a luscious and refreshing break from your daily grind and helps you relax as well. It's got a great cherry taste to it that is not overpowering with just a hint of berry flavor thrown in for good measure. Let it steep about three minutes and you're bound to enjoy it as much as I do!

Each bag contains all-natural ingredients; and there are no artificial ingredients. The stringless tea bags can easily be removed from your cup whenever you want just by using a spoon or anything similar to get them out of the cup. Stir the tea bag around and up and down a bit while it's in your cup before you drink it.

The tea is also caffeine free, which is a plus for those of us who don't want caffeine in our diets. That is something I always prefer.

If you like a cherry flavored tea with a slight berry twist to it, I highly recommend this tea! Enjoy!

Tazo Passion Tea, 24 Tea Bags Review

Tazo Passion Tea, 24 Tea Bags
Average Reviews:

This tea takes me back in time. When I was really young, my mom used to brew up big batches of iced tea.First, she would get the jugs ready, and then pour hot hibiscus tea into them, and add a lot of ice. We'd set them out in the sun and the natural light in mid-day would make the tea naturally sweet, as it brewed. Those were definitely good times. What better past time in the summer, than to brew a nice pot of iced tea on a sunny afternoon?Tazo Passion Tea doesn't fail to disappoint. For starters, one of the main ingredients blended to make it so delightful is hibiscus (along with orange peel, rosehips, cinnamon, lemongrass, natural tropical flavors, citric acid, licorice and red poppy). If you like your tea on the (slightly) tart side, I reccomend you drink this unsweetened and relish its wonderful, natural flavors. However, if you prefer some sweetness in you life, add a teaspoon of honey or your favorite sweetener for a different flavor note altogether.Doctors are now reccomending people drink five cups of tea daily, for improved health.Make Tazo part of your regimen! It's a great way to take care of your health, while making an excuse for a much-deserved tea break.

Tazo Tea Caffeine Free Herbal Infusion 20 ea Review

Tazo Tea Caffeine Free Herbal Infusion 20 ea
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Rooibos is Afrikaans for "red bush." Grown in South Africa's Cederburg Mountains and harvested during the summer, this tea acquires its unique red color as a result of fermentation (in mounds) and oxidization, when it is spread out to dry in the sunlight; naturally it is green.

Rooibos is known for its health benefits stemming from its rich content in vitamins, antioxidants, flavanoids and minerals (inter alia, magnesium, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, potassium, fluoride, manganese and alpha-hydroxy) and has a long tradition of medicinal use among the local Native population; among other things, it is known to help cure asthma, hay fever and other allergies, acne, eczema, colics, indigestion, insomnia, and nervous tension. Containing very few tannins and no caffeine, rooibos has a distinctive aroma and amber color.

This tea blends well with various spices and condiments; my favorite mixture is a delicious loose leaf blend sold by my local tea store, which features orange peel, cinnamon, grated coconut, finely minced chili and red pepper. For a more commercial alternative, though, Tazo's Red Bush tea is a great choice as well: a rich, exquisite blend of rooibos, hibiscus, orange peel, rosemary, several lemon ingredients (lemon myrtle, verbena and balm), as well as a number of sweet spices. Enjoy!

Passion® Herbal Infusion
A tantalizing deep red herbal tea made from hibiscus flowers, exotic herbs and natural tropical flavors.
Tazo Passion begins life when luscious hibiscus flowers are combined with the subtle citrus notes of lemongrass and tart Chilean rose hips. Natural tropical flavors of mango and passion fruit are mixed in, and the whole concoction is blended together under the watchful eye of a certified tea shaman. The result is bold and flavorful and should dispel any notion that herbal infusions are weak and watery.
Tazo\ta' -zo\n.[It, tazisto modif. of Ba, tazor] (ca. 4786 B.C.) 5: having the effect of being able to spark feelings of love in the coldest heart .
At various times throughout history, Tazo has emerged among the more advanced cultures of the day as a solution to the boredom of routine. In the court of Louis XIV, a refreshing, fruit-flavored herbal tea like this one become so popular that a dance was named after it. After a vigorous evening of dancing the Tazo, legend has it the King became quite overwhelmed with passion. Nine months later, Louis XV was born.

Navitas Naturals Certified Organic Goji Berries, Himalayan Superfruit, Goji Power 8-Ounce Pouch (Pack of 2) Review

Navitas Naturals Certified Organic Goji Berries, Himalayan Superfruit, Goji Power 8-Ounce Pouch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These berries are thought to be one of the one of the healthiest natural foods. There are many "stories" about the amazing benefits of these berries, many of which may be true, but a few verifiable facts about them (in dried form) follow:
1) High protein (about 12%), and are a complete protein. This is good for anybody, but particularly noteworthy to vegans, who choose not to get their protein from meats.
2) Decent fiber content (about 10%)
3) 18 (!!) amino acids
4) Like most sweet fruits, high in carbs and calories. 100 grams give you about 350-380 calories; roughly 3/4 from carbs and 1/4 from fat.
5) 6 vitamins, 8 amino acids, 11+ minerals (more in trace amounts)
6) Carotenoids, unsaturated fatty acids (this is a good thing), phytosterols (help lower cholesterol), and other healthy (or theoretically healthy but not particularly well researched) phytochemicals.

Enough with the technical jargon. These berries are great in cereal, smoothies (once hydrated), and tea. For tea, try this:
Put water, a small number of berries (6-15ish) and a teabag in your cup, microwave for about a minute per teacup (time varies), drop a small amount in your favorite tea along with the teabag and let the berries and tea steep for about 3 minutes.
This adds a subtle character to green tea (plus an unusual, tasty snack to do with a few of the sips). The flavor seems to blend well with chai and jasmine too. This may work differently for those who use creamer.

Of note:
- If you let them soak for too long (more than about 5-10 minutes) they get mushy and lose their texture and flavor.
- If you do not soak them long enough, they can feel a little bit gritty. I think this is due to the seeds. I don't mind it myself, but some might.

I recommend that you try a bag, keeping in mind that you may need to soak the berries in water/tea/whatever in order to make them soft, and see what you think. I have found they make a great addition to my usual cereal-only breakfast because they give me a much-needed protein boost.
If you like them quite a lot, you may want to take the time to look for a supply in a nearby Asian foods store. I have heard they can be purchased at a lower cost in bulk.

The reviewer that reported these are "gross" may have received something from a bad batch. I think they have a nice cranberry/raisin-ish flavor and have almost no noticeable odor (and the odor isn't an unpleasant one to me).

Gloria Jean's Coffees, Tea K-Cup, Pomegranate Berry Fusion Tea for Keurig Brewers, 24-Count (Pack of 2) Review

Gloria Jean's Coffees, Tea K-Cup, Pomegranate Berry Fusion Tea for Keurig Brewers, 24-Count
Average Reviews:

I love pomegranate, I love berries, and I love iced tea. Sadly, I don't love this product as an iced tea. It has an artificial flavor that seems a bit cloying to me. Everyone's taste is different, and this one just doesn't cut it for me.

Instead, I highly recommend Gloria Jean's Passion Fruit (Amazon is out of stock). A very close second place is Gloria Jean's Coffees, Tea K-Cup, Mango-Flavored Black Tea for Keurig Brewers, 24-Count Boxes (Pack of 2) for a flavored tea or Gloria Jean's Coffees,Tea K-Cup, Peppermint Herbal Tea for Keurig Brewers, 24-Count Boxes (Pack of 2) for a mint tea.

To make iced tea easily in a Keurig, you need a very strong glass that won't break when taken from boiling to freezing. (Crate & Barrel's excellent Large Working Glass is the strongest I've found that still looks good.) In a 21-ounce glass, put your sweetener in -- 1.75 teaspoons of Splenda for me, 1.25 t for my husband -- then brew a MEDIUM cup of tea. Add ice to almost fill the glass. The ice will melt easily and will end up to be 1/4 of the total volume. Stir and drink.

Tazo Passion Herbal Infusion Tea, Caffeine Free, 20-Count Tea Bags (Pack of 6) Review

Tazo Passion Herbal Infusion Tea, Caffeine Free, 20-Count Tea Bags
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Tazo Teas is a relative newcomer to the tea market, having been founded in 1994 by Steve Smith. But, what Tazo lacks in history it makes up for in pure inventiveness!

Among Tazo's many blends is Passion, a bold and flavorful mixture of hibiscus flowers, other tropical flavors, citric acid, orange peel, licorice root, cinnamon bark, rose hips, lemongrass, and red poppy. Brew it up, and you are rewarded with a bright red infusion, that has a tart and exciting taste.

Now, this tea is definitely not for everyone. As you can tell from the ingredients, this tea is strong and decidedly on the tart side. When drunk hot, you probably will want to sweeten it with honey or moderate it with milk, or possibly both. But, when made into an iced tea, Passion really comes into its own - decidedly refreshing and thirst-quenching. Just what you need for a hot summer day!

So, overall I would say that this is a pretty darn good hot tea, and a great iced tea. Buy some today!
