(More customer reviews)Hello, I ordered this item on Amazon although I have never tried it before as it is listed as gluten-free on the website.However, when the item arrived, it does not say that the contents are gluten-free just the soy sauce which can be done for taste preference over the wheat soy sauce variety.One of the ingredients is modified starch which according to celiac society should be considered to be made from wheat and therefore be gluten-laden unless specified otherwise from the manufacturer.Usually companies will brag about whatever is better about their product.If they spend more money to put gluten-free soy sauce instead of wheat soy sauce in their product, they put that on the label so you will see why their selling price is justified.The cheapest form of modified starch is wheat because of the government subsidies so unless the company specifies their source of modified starch as being a superior ingredient free of common allergen, one should assume they put the best labeling on it which would be that this item is not gluten-free because of the modified starch although they did chose to use gluten-free soy sauce probably for flavor or texture or possibly because it coats differently because of the different texture.I did put in both an email and a phone call to the manufacturer who apparently has some sort of presence in MA although most of facilities are in Thailand.I have not heard from the manufacturer.Again, if gluten-free, you would think I would hear back from them.I am going to return to Amazon.
