Strangely, despite all the extra packaging (and waste), Amazon makes it cheaper to buy it this way then in the 5-pack of larger canisters ($7/lb versus $9.30). They should lower the canister prices!

(More customer reviews)I like my crystallized ginger in the form of natural looking slices that are big and sort of chewy.These are perfect little uniform cubical pieces that are more like ginger gumdrops than anything else.It was impossible to tell that from the package illustration, so I'm rather disappointed, especially because crystallized ginger can be had for way less money.

They are tasty, however.This is a high quality product, just not in the form that I like best.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this item because the illustration shows ginger pieces resembling the best crystallized ginger I've ever purchased, from the large counter jar at Fortnum & Mason in London, perfect cubes of the tenderest most delicately flavored ginger ever. These Frontier pieces are irregularly shaped flat slices, stuck together, and have a sharp taste, much sharper than Australian crystallized ginger even. I'm guessing Frontier got its stock from China. There is no country of origin listed on the label. I suppose I'll wait for Trader Joe's to get some Australian ginger in for my next purchase. Or until I cash in my IRA for a couple pounds of Fortnum & Mason candied ginger on my next trip to London.

(More customer reviews)This makes a delicious snack.My son (4) loves this as much as he likes candy, and this is no doubt healthier.Only reason this does not get 5 stars is the packaging.All Melissa's bags are stapled to the cardboard. I dont like the idea of holes in the packaging.I hope they improve this in the future.
