(More customer reviews)I am very impressed with the quality of this product!The raisins are on the small size, but are the perfect blend of sweet and tangy.The price is outstanding...about 1/3 of what I have been paying at my local health food store for a similar product.

Note:If you can only buy a few organics, place grape and berry product at the top of your list.These products are very highly sprayed in conventional farming operations and will contain large amounts of pesticides!

(More customer reviews)Sun Maid raisins are the best brand of raisins on your grocer's shelf--period. These raisins are rather healthy for you. There is no fat, no cholesterol and almost zero sodium to boot! They offer fiber and potassium and that's good, too.

However, this food is not an invariable substitute for a vitamin or other fruits with fiber, minerals and vitamins. They are relatively high in sugar (29 grams per 1/4 cup) and they lack vitamins. I'll have to take off one star for that.

However, if you want a healthy snack or something to add to your breakfast cereal or oatmeal, these raisins are excellent. They taste great and they are far better than any candy to sweeten your food. Moreover, Amazon correctly notes that the raisins do not require refrigeration nor do they bruise or spoil easily.

These raisins are great for persons everywhere who prefer to feed their children fruits as a substitute for candy. They are perfect for people who want to sweeten their food with something 100% natural, too. These 1.5-ounce cartons provide us all with a healthy snack; and that's a huge plus.

(More customer reviews)Okay, I know this will sound silly, but these raisins have more stem stumps than any other brand I've ever tried. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you're probably not as picky about your raisins as I am! The Newman's brand have more of the little woody stems sticking out from the top of the raisin, and I sit and pick through them and remove all of them before I add the raisins to my dish. They're also a little bit drier than I like, so I wouldn't just eat them straight. I prefer the Natural Selection store brand from Kroger, which is also organic. I know the stem thing is silly, but it bothers me, and sometimes it takes a long time to pick them all off!

These may be the best-tasting grocery raisins you've ever had. Nothing even approaches these for their flavor, texture, and all those Newman Company extras that aficionados like me adore. (We're talking organic ingredients, environmentally sound production, profits donated to the needy, and supporting the goals of one of the most compelling actors of all time, and a heck of a nice guy as well.)

But back to the food at hand.

These are plump, JUICY raisins, startlingly different from the usual fare. I don't know how they do it, but Newman's Organic California Raisns retain their natural flavor; pleasant scent, and a succulent mouth feel that one expects from fine port.One "secret" may be the ingredients: Raisins. C'est tout. Make that ingredient, in fact. THe only thing missing is Newman's usual story on the package--usually some wild, adventurous story shedding light on the product, and featuring Mr. Newman as raconteur-narrator.Perhaps with raisins this classically delicious, we must resort to the Latin --"Res Ipsa Loquitor" -- the thing speaks for itself. Unbelievable.
